About IIC

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

Key Mandates

Functions of IICs

To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in a time-bound fashion.

Identify and reward innovations and share success stories

Organize periodic workshops/seminars/interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, and create a mentor pool for student innovators

Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations

Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students

Organize Hackathons, idea competitions, mini-challenges, etc. with the involvement of industries

02.12.23 Celebration of National Pollution Control Day. Organised by IIC and Department of Civil Engineering in association with Indian Concrete Institute and IQAC, NCET on 2nd December 2023. The Chief Guest Mr. D. R. Kumaraswami ,Director-Prakruthi Institute of Environmental Studies spoke about various pollutants and the challenges towards Sustainable development for a clean and healthy planet.
5.12.23 - 7.12.23 Three days Technical workshop on ‘Applications of Embedded Systems using MSP430 TI Microcontroller’ organised by Department of ECE in association with Edgate Technologies.
09.12.23 NCET IIC Members – Dr. Geethanjali G, Dr. Gopinath A R, Prof. Balaji Y S and Prof. Sriram S, participated in the event held at REVA University, Bengaluru on 9th December 2023.
11.12.23 Students and Staff of NCET actively participated in the Live Telecast of the Launch of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Voice of Youth’ by PM Shri Narendra Modi on 11th December 2023 at 10:30 A.M. via video conferencing.
26.12.23 Hosted Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Vikasit Bharat @ 2047, a ground breaking initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and AICTE. Guided by the visionary leadership of Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. The event featured a distinguished speaker, Shri Keshava Kumar, Retired CEO L&T Construction and Equipment Ltd, Chief Consultant, J K Consultancy Services sharing his insights on the Road Map for Viksit Bharath @2047, and it was a tremendous success with the active participation of nearly 300+ students.
